Las Vegas, Nevada - Governor Brian Sandoval today released the following statement after the National Hockey League (NHL) announced its selection of Las Vegas, Nevada as the official city for its expansion team.

“I would like to congratulate Bill Foley, the National Hockey League, and MGM Resorts on the fantastic news that Southern Nevada has been selected as the home to a professional hockey team. Nevada is once again one of the fastest growing states in the nation and our economic diversification efforts are helping Las Vegas establish itself as a dynamic destination for business, travel and now professional sports,” said Governor Brian Sandoval. “On behalf of the State of Nevada, thank you for acknowledging the depth of our communities and further cementing Las Vegas’s designation as the global entertainment capital of the world.”
