McAllen, Texas – On July 2, the Rio Grande Valley (RGV) Sector Foreign Operations Branch (FOB) provided the First Lady of Honduras, Ana García Carías, and her delegation an exclusive tour of the Centralized Processing Center to gain an understanding of the journey Hondurans take traveling to the United States.

The First Lady was shown processing procedures and toured the holding facility. Chief Patrol Agent Manuel Padilla, Jr. provided an overview of the situation migrants may endure during their journey to the United States and shared some of their stories, as provided to Agents during interviews

“The journey from Central America is very dangerous and is controlled by the criminal element,” said Chief Patrol Agent Manuel Padilla, Jr. “We urge Hondurans and Central Americans to not risk their own life, or their child’s lives, attempting to make entry into the United States.”

The public is encouraged to take a stand against crime in our communities and to help save lives by reporting suspicious activity at 800-863-9382. RGV currently has multiple campaigns, like “Se Busca Informacíon”, “Operation Big Rig”, and “No Se Arriesgue” to combat smuggling and ultimately save lives.
