Las Vegas, Nevada - The city of Las Vegas is recruiting 48 AmeriCorps members for the 2018-2019 academic year. Selected applicants will serve as literacy tutors and success mentors to students in elementary and middle schools. AmeriCorps members are required to complete at least 900 hours of service during a 10month commitment, September 2018 to June 2019, at a city ReInvent School.
- Be at least 18 years of age by the program start date;
- Speak, read and write English fluently;
- Have a high school diploma or high school equivalency;
- and, Be a U.S. citizen, national or lawful permanent resident.
Members will be expected to serve a minimum of 25 hours per week during the school year. Program benefits include a living allowance of $6,315 for 10-months of service, an education award of $2,887.50 and ongoing training and professional development.
