Las Vegas, Nevada - Commissioner Jim Gibson and Clark County will open Nevada’s largest pickleball complex at Sunset Park located at 2601 East Sunset Road on Saturday, May 8 at 8 a.m. with a ceremony and an inaugural Commissioner’s Cup Tournament beginning directly after.

The new complex includes 24 courts, a tournament building, shade structures, picnic tables and benches, lighting, restrooms, water fountains, fencing and public address system.

“As the sport of pickleball continues to become more popular, we are proud to help meet this growing demand,” said Commissioner Gibson. “The facility at Sunset Park houses 24 courts, making it one of the largest in the region!”

Pickleball has doubled in popularity over the last two years with 3.5 million players today, according to USA Pickleball.

The inaugural Commissioner’s Cup Tournament will be on Saturday, May 8 after the opening starting at 8:15 a.m. and will include the following divisions:

The Sunset Park Pickleball Complex will be open to the public seven days a week during the hours of 6 a.m. to 11 p.m.  It will also be available to reserve for individual games and tournaments by contacting the Parks and Recreation Department’s Sports Office.

Sunset Park consists of 214 developed acres, making it the largest park in Clark County.  The land for Sunset Park was acquired in 1967 and contains the last remaining dunes of what once covered most of Paradise Valley.  Today the park houses multiple picnic areas, nine softball fields, two Little League fields, eight basketball courts, five playgrounds, several miles of walking paths, a fitness course, splash pad, disc golf course, dog park, pond, RC boat ramp, seven sand volleyball courts, eight tennis courts, and restrooms.  More information can be found on the County’s Parks and Recreation Department website: www.ClarkCountyNV.gov/parks
