Elko, Nevada - Youth and staff from Elko’s Nevada Youth Training Center (NYTC) have completed 378 hours of community service this spring. The youth and staff participated in Elko’s annual “Take Pride in Your Community Cleanup, Greenup Recycle Event” in which they received recognition from the Mayor, Chris Johnson, and the City Council for their hard work at the most recent Elko City Council Meeting on May 10, 2016.  Three staff and 12 youth completed 7 ½ hours of work at the Elko County landfill on 04/23/16 in direct support of the city’s event.  The staff and youth all attended the meeting and received Certificates of Appreciation signed by the Mayor.

Carson City, Nevada - In March 2016, the Nevada Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants, and Children (WIC) program received a USDA grant to dramatically expand access to breastfeeding support in the state. The grant funds 24-hour access to video consultations with International Board Certified Lactation Consultants (IBCLCs) using the Pacify mobile application.

Las Vegas, Nevada - Convicted drug traffickers and known street gang members are among the 87 foreign nationals arrested in the Reno and Las Vegas areas last week during an operation conducted by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) targeting at-large criminal aliens.

Reno, Nevada - A local doctor and eight other Reno-area residents, including a number of employees of an automobile dealership, have been arrested and charged with being part of a conspiracy to unlawfully distribute highly addictive prescription drugs, including oxycodone, to persons who did not have a medical necessity for them, announced U.S. Attorney Daniel G. Reno, Nevada - The owner of several Reno, Nevada landscaping and rock hauling businesses pleaded guilty in federal court today to one count of failure to pay over employment taxes, announced Acting Assistant Attorney General Caroline D. Ciraolo of the Justice Department’s Tax Division and U.S. Attorney Daniel G. Bogden of the District of Nevada.  The bookkeeper for the businesses pleaded guilty to one count of willful failure to pay taxes.
