Henderson, Nevada - Children and teens hoping to take their basketball skills to the next level can take part in Howie Landa’s Hoop Clinic from 9 a.m. to noon, Wednesday through Friday, December 26-28, at Silver Springs Recreation Center, 1951 Silver Springs Pkwy.
The three-part clinic is open to players ages 8-16 for $80 per person, and includes a camp shirt. Register at cityofhenderson.com/parks (activity 624018-00) or at any city of Henderson recreation center. The camp is hosted by the city of Henderson Parks and Recreation Department.
Howie Landa, a former WBL and WNBA assistant coach and former University of Nevada, Las Vegas (UNLV) Runnin’ Rebels head coach, provides participants with instruction on the mechanics of basketball, including ball handling, defense, passing and shooting. The clinic is designed to focus on the fundamentals while instilling confidence and includes interactive drills and lectures.
Prior to UNLV, Landa served as head coach at Mercer County College (Trenton, N.J.), where his team twice won the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Championship. He was named NJCAA Region XIX Coach of the Year ten times and National Coach of the Year three times.
