Carson City, Nevada - The Treatment Advocacy Center has analyzed the laws that provide evaluation and treatment to psychiatric patients across the nation based on a scoring rubric. Nevada scored a "B" in reviewing the content of how services are provided, the treatment time frame, and if it leads to successful outcomes within each state. Nevada was one of 22 states that scored a B- or higher. Nevada's Assisted Outpatient Program provides involuntary civil outpatient services for those in our community who have behavioral health issues and require intensive level of wrap-around mental health services.

Reno, Nevada - LeCharles Edward Baldon Sr. was sentenced Monday to 184 months in federal prison for distributing methamphetamine and heroin in the Reno area, announced U.S. Attorney Dayle Elieson for the District of Nevada, Special Agent in Charge Aaron C. Rouse for the FBI Las Vegas Division, and Assistant Special Agent in Charge Daniel W. Neill for the DEA Las Vegas office.

Carson City, Nevada - The Governor’s Office of Energy (GOE) recently awarded a grant to Viridity Energy Solutions, Inc. (Viridity), a wholly owned subsidiary of Ormat Technologies, Inc. to install and monitor a battery energy storage system supplied by Tesla, Inc., in the Grant Sawyer State Office Building in Las Vegas, Nevada. The system will reduce Grant Sawyer’s annual energy costs by thousands of dollars.

Carson City, Nevada - Today, Nevada Attorney General Adam Paul Laxalt and Renown Health Foundation announced Renown Health’s recovery of $650,327.14 in restitution to be used for Renown’s new Stacie Mathewson Behavioral Health & Addiction Institute. The restitution became available to Renown after the Attorney General’s Office entered into a $220 million multi-state deceptive trade practices settlement with Deutsche Bank. The Stacie Mathewson Behavioral Health & Addiction Institute was recently established and funded with $6 million from Charles N. and Stacie L. Mathewson. The Institute expands community access to prevention and intervention services for mental health disorders and alcohol and drug addiction. In addition to providing much-needed behavioral health and addiction services, the Institute also aims to decrease stigma and encourage more people to seek help in Northern Nevada.
